May is International Respect for Chickens Month!
Join ARC in honoring chickens by hanging out at Chicken Butt Microsanctuary. Get to know ten individuals while you enjoy your lunch.
Feel free to bring your own vegan lunch if you prefer, but the sanctuary will provide peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, chips and fruit to those who register. If you're new to the sanctuary, a waiver must be signed on site.
Chickens love to sunbath next to humans and some residents will 'fix' your hair if you're on their level. For the best experience, go ahead and plan in advance to get a little dirty. Wear clothes and shoes you don't mind getting muddy, smudgy, or poop on. This way you can get down on their level to really get to know them without worrying about your clothes.
This is not a petting zoo designed to entertain humans and generate revenue. Animals in petting zoos often have limited freedom to choose whether they want to be touched or handled.
Chicken Butt Microsanctuary is a nonprofit organization focused on providing individualized care to chickens. The well-being of the residents takes precedence over human desires.
Out of respect for the residents please do not bring any food or beverages derived from animals and/or their byproducts. This is a vegan sanctuary, and they do everything they can to spread compassion and raise awareness for animals and the exploitation they endure, making animal sanctuaries necessary at all.
