VII International Seminar on Animal Defense by Fórum Animal

Event for Portuguese speakers. The event will feature speakers with extensive experience in animal defense projects and activities in Brazil, and Philip Lymbery, from Compassion in World Farming (CIWF) UK, and David Cassuto, a renowned American professor in Environmental and Animal Law, intend to raise a debate on the ethical, bioethical and socio-environmental aspects of animal protection. The first day will focus on Animal Law, with panel discussions on Animal Law in practice, Animal is a police matter, Animal Law in the Supreme Court and Animal Advocacy. It will feature renowned animal law jurists, judges and public prosecutors. To bring this first day to a brilliant close, we will be joined by Prof. Dr. Francisco Garcia, a state deputy from Paraíba. Discussions on “Wild animals: for life and freedom” will open the second day of the event, followed by discussions on “Trafficking in wild animals: rescue, recovery and reintroduction”, “Use of animals in teaching and research”, “Population management of dogs and cats” and ending with a round table discussion on “Tackling sporotrichosis”. The day will end with the virtual participation of Philip Lymbery, a visionary and innovative leader in the field of animal welfare, who will present his book “Faltam poucos colheitas”, translated into Portuguese and released in Brazil by xxx. Afterwards, everyone is invited to take part in a vegan cocktail party with discussions between animal protection organizations, protectors, lawyers and other participants. Afterwards, discussions will continue on “The Environment and Animal Welfare”, with the presence of the former Minister of the Environment and the organizations Greenpeace, SOS Mata Atlântica and Fundação Florestal. “Cultured Meat” will also be the theme of the day, with the participation of the Cultured Meat Laboratory of the Federal University of Paraná and an expert from the Policy and Good Food Institute. This will be followed by a major debate on the challenges facing animal protection, including the slaughter of donkeys and the challenge of ending animal traction. The seminar will end by tackling some of the issues surrounding animal protection in our country, with the Animal Forum Legislative Front team presenting “Projects for the welfare of farm animals”. The VII FNPDA Seminar will also feature presentations of scientific papers, bringing the scientific community even closer to the social demands surrounding animal welfare. On the other hand, the presentation of successful experiences will open the door to the exchange of knowledge between extension projects and animal protectors. To close the event, Federal Judge Vicente de Paula Ataíde Junior will bring insights into the defense of animals, followed by the President Director of the Animal Forum, Elizabeth Suzanne Mac Gregor. Participants will be invited to a final round of talks and socializing.
