Seattle Aquarium Captivity is Cruelty Demo

The Seattle Aquarium is celebrating the grand opening of their Shark Tank starting on August 29th. NARN will be there to educate aquarium attendees and passersby that putting animals in small tanks for people to gawk at does nothing to save imperiled wild populations. Please try to be there and help us make this the biggest demo yet! We are also offering shirts for everyone to show their solidarity against octopus capture. Available here: https://www.bonfire.com/captivity-is-cruelty/ As we wait for demo day, sign the petition demanding change at the Seattle Aquarium here: https://chng.it/bpYHsHmQSc Things we will be focusing on: - SEA aquarium's practice of imprisoning multiple wild-caught Octopuses every year - SEA's potentially unsafe tank for Sharks, Rays, and other tropical Fish, are most likely captured in the wild from the South Pacific (none of these animals thrive in captivity) - how hundreds of animals have been left to suffer and die in a warehouse in South Seattle Taxpayer dollars, a lot of which had been taken from funds intended to support critical infrastructure and housing, have been used to fund the aquarium, including $20M given to the new shark tank on the waterfront. Animals don't deserve to be captured and imprisoned for a few moments of entertainment. We will have leaflets and signs, but please feel free to make and bring your own. Learn more about NARN's campaign here: https://narn.org/shark-tank-campaign/ Please try to carpool (check discussion tab!) and allow for time to get there as parking will be a challenge.
